Thumbs up Re: Dragway 42

Last time I ran there was in 1986. When I pulled in Wed. evening I was overwhelmed on how the place had changed in a BIG way! I had a chance to talk with the new track owner Sunday for awhile. He was very, very thankful for the racers that came and for what he has accomplished the past 3 years, and admitted he still has plenty of work to do to be where he intends to be. In his own words "he said without you racers he would be nothing". He is very dedicated in making this facility one of the nicest IHRA tracks around. I believe he will.

Also had a chance to talk with Mike Dunn. Last time he ran there was in 1980 in a fuel funny car. He said things were going well and that he still does a little ESPN announcing from time to time.

All in all it was a very nice weekend. I'll definitely be back soon.......

Rob Moser's Top Dragster was going 3.90's all weekend in the heat. Shouldn't complain about the track.

I watched the events on ESPN3 and it does look like a very nice facility. I hope it is on the schedule for next year, and maybe we will do a crazy thing like drive over 9 hours, like when we were young and gas was cheap (1990s). Some of the best racing memories are the ones far from the home state of NC.

Vernon Rowland from Ok.
He clinched the championship in the 9.90 class with a runner up on Saturday.
He also won the 8.90 class the same day.
His Daughter Brittany DeVore won the 10.90 class on Saturday.
My Son Parker didn't take his Stocker, he wished had.
His good friend Jong Long from Texas brought his Pure Stocker Camero there to run.
This group isn't afraid to travel.
