Buckeye S/SS @ Quaker City Sat. June 12th
This coming Saturday June 12th the Buckeye Stock/SuperStock Drag Racing Series will descend on Quaker City Motorsports Park in Salem, Ohio. This event will Be called the Kevin Melhorn Memorial. Kevin was our 2020 Champion Runoff runner up. The Melhorn Family loved the sport of Drag Racing and it is fitting to honor Kevin at the track closest to his home and a home track to him.
The gates will open at 9:00 am and will run TCR and Junior Dragsters. Big car time trials/qualifying will follow after TCR and Juniors finish and will get on the track by around 11:00 to 11:30. (this is my guesstimate). Entry will be a total of $125. Racers will pay $25 at the gate and come to our trailer for your tech card and pay $100. Winner will be paid $1100 including the Mid Ohio Paving Bonus plus the Iron Man Trophy , runner up will receive $500 including the M.O.P. bonus and the Runner Up wall plaque. Semi finalists get round money ($50 per round starting with second round winners) and an extra $100 M.O.P. bonus. Round money is $50 per round starting second round. BK Beverage (Melhorn Family) will sponsor a $50 Marathon gas card for the #1 qualifier. Mid Ohio Paving will pay $100 to the Dial for Dollars winner for the racer that gets closest to their dial in on our first qualifier. If you are running another class and have gone down the track prior to our first qualifier, you will not be eligible for Dial for Dollars. Once we get into eliminations Parsons & Myers Racing Engines has $100 for the racer with the Best Losing First Round Package. Columbus Joint & Clutch Racing pays the racer that is Dead On Zero. Competitors must win the round and run on their dial in with a zero to get the $100 posted for this. If nobody runs dead on zero, the money rolls over until someone hits it. At our Columbus race Bob Marshall Dodge Material won $200 for hitting it with a zero. KB Trailers Bounty Hunter will pay the racer this week $100 for defeating Jeff Day driving his '64 Plymouth. Jeff won our event at National Trail and has the Bounty on his head for this race. The track has a Friday program that I believe is a test and tune and Gamblers event. Racers can stay overnight as in years past. Check the track website for more info on the Friday program. Please make sure to pay your gate fee before coming to us for a tech card.
