The answer is simple, Super Stock is easier and if you build your own junk it's cheaper as long as your not out for class trophies. I expect SS counts to increase over the next couple of years, due to stock classes combining and no word of class purse increases. Find a soft combo for the chevelle and get your dremel out and have fun. I hear that 68 327 combo ain't bad if you can find the correct head castings. Unless you just have so much money you don't know how to spend it all I would avoid the BBC combos. There are many sites that can calculate required HP to run the minimum index. Find the best and run as far under your budget allows, Good Luck!!!

Zach, I am saying keep your dragster restore the Chevelle and enjoy it. Don't get into this kind of racing where some douche with a big wallet and a small dick can go out and ruin your combo. Just my 2 cents.

If it were me I would go with the 327 250hp engine...it's rated @ 245 it will fit J & K stock. you didn't say what kind of car it was....as in malibu, SS396, wagon, el camino? the heads my be the only "odd" part to find.

Like has been said the 250 HP 327 looks good. HP factor is not a problem. If finding the heads becomes a problem then switch to a 275 HP 327. It can run RHS, Dart, & World heads of a certain part number.(listed in the guide) The HP factor goes to 300 so there is a weight penalty for the aftermarket heads. If I remember these cars had little wheel wells. I would think that it would have to be tubbed to get SS sized rubber on . Good Luck & Have Fun.
