Default RIP Mr. Eric Brooks

I've seen him many times and never took the time to talk to him..... (until last September).

Anyone that has won class at INDY has met Mr. Brooks..... he has been taking the "class winners" pics since 1970.

I just read (in National Dragster) that he passed away on June 18th.

RIP Mr. Eric Brroks

I apologize for using the National Dragster article..... but it just seemed appropriate for the circumstances.

Eric realy was a nice man. If you were fortunate enough to "win class" at Indy he helped make it a special day.

He will be missed.

Eric truly cared about the efforts of each Indy Class Winner, and took whatever time necessary to get the shots you wanted. I feel fortunate to have known him.

Always a happy face for the racer. I remember 1 year @ Indy I won class and he borrowed my trophy to take photos because they ran out. He looked me up in the pits to give it back. He also did not charge me for my photo. Will be missed by us all.

We met Eric by accident at the 2004 US Nationals.
My husband and I were there as spectators taking photos of each other in the Class Winners circle when Eric came along and offered to take our photos with our camera. He then taught us how to take photos and use the camera we had. It was a big manual camera that we would just point and shoot, in which we didn't know how to use all the special features on it. Eric took the time and taught us more about our camera than we ever thought we'd know.
Once he heard we were from Canada and Div.6 he really welcomed us with open arms and asked us to say hi to his many friends in the Pacific Northwest. After spending about an hour or so with him we made a wonderful new friend and learned so much in photography.
After all was said and done I got my photo taken with him in that same winners circle, to us he was definitely a winner in our books.

Our sincere condolences to all his family and MANY friends!
R.I.P. Eric
