Default powerglide

In a powerglide if the stater support spins will it still produce enough line pressure to make a person think the pump is good to go? On the starting line motor won't go past 4000. Had my converter cut open but found nothing wrong. My converter man says I have a problem somewhere else.

The transmission will still function , The tube has no bearing on the pump pressure , but with the converter feed restricted the stall will be off and trans temp will skyrocket due to the cooling circuit being blocked .
It should be easy to see the hole alignment of the stator tube when you disassemble the pump.
The tube ,stock or replacement should always be pinned with a set screw , but even that is not fool proof .

Thanks for the reply. The stater was pinned with a set screw and since the trans had 210 psi idling in low gear I figured it had to be the converter. Will check to see if the pin is still in place.
