I do have a MSD Blaster coil on shelf. Is there a conversion to put on cap for coil wire? I don't remember if there is one as its been 30 years since I touched one.

you will need a MSD 8401 conversion cap--- all it is is a "dust cover " WITH NO COIL
inside and a tower that looks like it has a spark plug on it--- this is how you connect the coil wire from the external coil to the distributor---FED 387

Thumbs up Re: My 88 Olds wagone U/SA 10 Pennies

Actually, a low budget guy might super glue the carbon button in place, tie about an inch of the wire core though the little spring, silicone over the whole mess, and then just drill a hole through the dust cap. No disconnect on that end , but the price is right.
Then, there's always Summit or Jegs.

Coil heatng up is really a problem? I thought the rpms over 7k was a problem with spark scatter due to stock module not keeping up. The distributor is a cheap billet with pertronics internals.

Not until you're hot lapping in about the 4th round LOL Been there, done that.
Looked like an HEI to me, hence my comment.
Can't report on the spark scatter. Never used a module on a real Stocker..I have used the HEI pick up to trigger an MSD..Seems to work fine

My first trans rebuild. I didn't have any pieces left over so I guess its all in there. Tail shaft has .005 free play and input has .005. Used Alto red friction. B&M shift kit. Sonnex large servo. I still need to make case support.

Looking fot aluminum trans pan. Who makes one as I checked and couldn't find one on internet.
Rebuild kit and new servo. $270.00 Total $8203.98

Looks like you plan on using the TV cable. Assuming the governor too. Did you modify the low over run valve if planning to over-ride the governor, manually?
Also ,did you full feed the direct and increase the line pressure? Maybe h.p. spring came with kit?

I'm going to try tv cable first. Added spring pressure. Not sure on increasing line pressure. I thought adjusting tv cable make my 1-2 shift where I want it. No?

TV cable works with governor for low, medium speed shifts. At WOT. TV valve is bottomed out to max. Governor takes over. You'll have to modify governor, which is a p.o.s. , compared to 350/400. At least it's outside the pan,..not like the 200 4R.
You can find much more info on the o.d trans from the GN boys. It is similar in function.

Sounds like I need to go without tv cable and bottom out plunger and hold it there, then see how to make governor adjustable.
