Re: 70's & 80's Pro Stockers
I remember that car. It was in SSDI magazine IIRC. Will keep an eye out for the article next time I dig thru my magazines,

Larry's Fairmont started it's life as Bob Glidden's 1970 Mustang.

That Caddy reminds me of Larry Peternel's 1981 Chrysler Imperial.

Awesome pic! That would be a awesome build, I wonder what type of engine would qualify for that car? Back then was there a "GM DRCE" type program?

Re: 70's & 80's Pro Stockers
Another great pic, I really enjoy hearing stories from back in the day about guys like Larry Peternel and Richie Zul (he parked the race car on the street in NYC) here is a great story from a member of this site..
You had to admire Larry Peternel's determination to race. The last few times I saw him, he had a GM F-body in a well used Chapparal trailer. The wheelie bars were two piece; he'd unbolt the back half so he could get the trailer door shut. Just about everytime I saw the guy race, he was absolutely a one man team. Others had crews all over the starting line, but Larry managed to get in the water, do his burnout, and stage properly all by himself.
