We buy a very large number of Wix filters every year and nothing looks any different to me quality wise.

Oil, air, fuel and coolant filters.

We have a very large dedicated filter room and stock hundreds.

From small machines to very large, they all get routine service and we use primarily Wix and NAPA if we need something we don’t have.

Wix makes NAPA’s filters

Why would anyone want any trash to circulate through there engine??? What a joke

I have been doing this for 45 years as well and no problems but you have to know what your doing when block a bypass.

Higher burst pressure on the 1061? 285psi vs 270psi on the 1060 per specs, everything else seems the same.

51060 has an anti drain back valve and 51061 does not.

Same filter other than that.

51060 is used for horizontal type mounting....
51061 is for vertical type mounting....

That "valve" is really just a red silicone rubber flap...

You can look at the top and see it covering the holes on any Wix filter that has the anti drain back feature...

Lots of machines mount the filter off the side......and many vehicles.

Without the valve you'll hear a nasty rattle everytime you start your engine for a couple seconds...or a valve that's not working...

I had a 454 pickup that was 4 wheel drive and some various brand filters did not do a good job of retaining oil …and if I heard the rattle I'd replace that filter.....

Wix never had that issue...

What Rich said about the anti-drainback valve is correct. I've used both part numbers interchangeably on my BBC race engines forever.

Interesting Rich, is it listed in the spec somewhere and I missed it? Had a few stores try to sell me filters w/o the anti drain back for my Buick, always passed figuring it would enhance the mess when I changed it.

If you look in a Wix filter book it lists everything as far as specs but doesn't say anything about how a filter is mounted

Numerous engines mount the filter other then straight up and down...….and everytime you start it oil pressure takes longer to build up as it fills the filter that drained back.

Never gave it much thought myself until I read the catalog.....

Physical size, thread size, with or without the anti drain back feature....probably more info but I don't have a catalog handy...

I did go look at a 51060 and a 51061 just to be sure I had the info correct...

Those are std length filters....

They also make a shorter length and a 2 quart "truck" filter.....

Some are labeled Extended Life....

I use the 51061 R on my engines and have for years.....Bought them by the case...

We buy from Filter One.....Nobody comes close to their prices and they ship UPS...

Only issue is they do a very poor job boxing filters for shipment.....Some get damaged or boxes busted up.....occasionally....
