Jess, This is how we ship our trans and any others we work on. Go and buy a good grade plastic case, it has to be plyable not hard. We have shipped Many transmissions this way using fedex ground and insure it. Use foam board as packing and pull ties on the lid. WalMart has some big boxes like you use for storage.They are soft/flexiable and would work.
