kirkey seat question
When they list a seat with a size of 16 or 17 , are they talking about how wide it is ? What have some of you tried for padding and covers , compaired to what they offer ?

Re: kirkey seat question
Yes, that is the width of the seat. As far as covers go, I had ones custom made to match the pattern of the original seats.

Re: kirkey seat question
Ken ,it's the inside seat width , best way to determine what you want is while sitting, measure across your hips .
I doubt you would need bigger than a 17" style . I few of my customers have had custom covers made ,some have used the covers Kirkey offers as patterns . Kirkey's seat covers are actually fairly nice and pretty rugged . ...I usually add a some foam in the lower lumbar area for more support to the lower back

Re: kirkey seat question
Consider Jaz’s aluminum seat with their optional cover. Same seat installed in Joe Franco’s and my super stocker built by MPR. Very comfortable seat...

How does the shoulder harness work with this? It looks like one slot behind the neck. The slots on my Kirkey are too high for the NHRA 90 degree to the shoulder preference.

Re: kirkey seat question
Ken, I also used the Jaz seats that 1320 is referring to. I like that they're not as tall as others. MJ Quinn from Derby City Covers did the covers. I would imagine he has a pattern for them now after doing mine. I had to send him a seat as he had never done covers for that particular seat.

Re: kirkey seat question
For seat size I used 2 short pieces of 2x6 and set them at the seat adv width on a bench and ck'd to see if my arse fit between them. I used the stock cover that came with my seat. I then used high density foam padding under the cover to fine tune it, raised me up a little and padded my hips.
