Default Oil-Retention Device

In the class rules for Stock Eliminator (section 11A), there is made no mention of any oil-containment/retention devices. Section 11B (FSS section) it says an NHRA approved oil retention device is mandatory via general regulations 1:8.

I may or may not have been running an engine diaper on my N/SA wagon. Do I need to be sure to have one for the national event on Thursday? When I built my car at the beginning of the year, I saw no mention of diapers in the stock section so I did not make that a priority for my program. Having a diaper is not a bad thing either, I don't mind running one just for the fact of self preservation.

Section 1:8 of general regulations only says oil containment devices are mandatory in classes where they are stated as mandatory. I read/understand that as Stock cars are not included in that regulation as there is no mention of it in its class section of the rule book.

My opinion is every car staging, regardless of ET or class should be required to have an "oil retention device"

I agree, like I said, in the interest of self preservation, I like having one. Just don't know if it's a rules violation to exclude it for a race or two

The only Stockers that need an "oil retention device" are Factory/Stock classes.
