Same story different people
I recently read one of the post that said check out the stories on DRC. As I scrolled down the page I found out it was Lee Zane and Gracie Howell. I have nothing against any of the racers and their families that get articles done on them. It just seems like we are reading and reporting on the same types of people over and over again, high end race teams or professional drivers. Where is the meduim level racer or even the low budget racer at. It would be nice to know how they got started and how they enjoy the sport. Everyone knows the big name racers by now they always get talked about and their heads get bigger and bigger. Isn't it about time we learn more about the other guys, you know the ones that knock off big name racer and race teams? The ones that pay the entry fees and pay for their families to enjoy the race for the sake of being there together. Hell an added bonus would be winning a class race or the event. Rasing a class wally with their son who just returned from Iraq or Afghanistan. Looking at their hero as they climb out of what most drivers would consider a toy or a piece of metal and seeing and feeling the joy and emotions of them just racing. Having their sons or daughters emailing and checking the websites following thier father or mother racer. These are the kind of stories and articles that need to be posted on DRC and other racing websites.

Re: Same story different people
Great story on Gracie Howell. Just for everyone's information Bill Howell is one of my major backer of the stats beside Jeg's. Without Bill's help and friendship i wouldn't be doing this gig.
And hey my son comes home from Afghanistan next month and I know nothing will be said about it, And no biggie, we are just damn glad to see him get back in one piece. He already did 2 years in Iraq before that. Last edited by Nitro Joe Jackson; 03-24-2019 at 11:00 AM. |

I agree with Hemikid, it would be nice to see some of the lesser-known racers get some ink as well.

I agree with Hemikid too. I don't think it's jealousy I think we are tired of reading about the same racers all the time. I would like to read about some engine builders and some racers like Brian Oakes, or the Armstrong's. It is just my opinion , but I have nothing against the people that they have written about in the past.

Re: Same story different people
Nitro Joe, please pass along a big "thank you" from us to your son. We really appreciate his service to our country. He is a genuine American hero.
After this weekend's race at Maple Grove, I'd suggest the next sportsman racer story be on Ed Fernandez. I believe that on the hood of his Gremlin it reads "powered by social security". You can't get anymore low budget than that. Here's a guy with a slower, lower classed car enjoying a fair level of success in NHRA class racing. Who wouldn't like that story? Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. RIP Mark Graham
