Default Automatic Trans fluid....

Guys, have a ? for ya. Have an 07 GMC Sierra SLE 5.3 4 speed automatic. Trying to find our how many quarts it will take to change the fluid and filter. The GMC parts man gave me a figure 5 to 8 quarts and that is unacceptable. Would appreciate any help on how many quarts it will take....Thanks up front. frank

just going by memory, but I believe that there is a shallow or deep pan option on those trans that you need to identify for the capacity ...

Frank--- more than likely you probably have a 4L60E trans in your vehicle and it uses 5 quarts of fluid plus filter for a trans service or 12 quarts for a rebuild--FED387

Frank --more than likely the GM filter you will need is #24208576 and you probably have the "deep" pan too --FED 387

That's the one he gave me. At lease he got the serial # off the truck so it should be the right one. Boy when you buy GM parts and fluids it gets pricey......I would hate to pay them to change it, too....Thanks Fed....frank
