Roughly about 500-550 HP when I first started racing years ago I had a 1800 pound dragster and a 630HP SBC and I was running upper 8 teens to 20s on methanol but that was 15 years ago. Hope this helps.

S&W 235" 4-link 880 H.P. 1915 with me in it. Best time was an 7.50. Average was 7.55-7.57 You can work backwards from there. I am guessing 725-750 should do it.

Back when S/C was just starting out, a friend of mine had a lil 331 Aluminum headed motor in his 1650# dragster and would run 8.8's all day long. We figured it to be somewhere around 575-600hp.

My uncle also has a name brand 4-link car with a roughly 675-725 HP 421 SBC and he runs 8.0's to high 7.90's depending on air. I was probley a little conservitive on my intial numbers I would assume just over 600 would get it done but 2000 pounds is pretty heavy for a dragster unless you are considering driver weight into that number.

R&S: just curious, why would you not figure the drivers wieght in as well when determining how much power is needed to reach a certain E.T? Almost every class I have ever run car weight is calculated with driver. Just makes the total package wiegh less with a skinny driver ( unlike me )
