tire recommendations
2000 Ford F250 2 wheel drive need new tires truck has 160,000 miles on it---tires on it are LT235-85R-16 NO towing planned do not need heavy duty E rated tires--- just drive it locally occasionally on the freeway mostly locally --- Tire recommendations please don't want Primewell/Douglas or equivalent Chinese junk --- maybe 8000 miles per year at most so I don't need Michelins etc.--- Thanks in advance FED 387

Re: tire recommendations
I do use my 99 F350 Dually for towing, but since I only use the truck for 3000 miles a year, I too wanted decent tires, American made, but not at Michelin prices. A couple of months ago, I put 6 new 235/85R16 E range BF Goodrich Commercal T/As on my truck, and so far, I am pretty happy with them. Looking at the tread design, they don`t look like they would work really well in snow, but since the truck stays parked from October thru March or April, that was a non issue.

Re: tire recommendations
nowadyas tires are an iffy proposition. if you drive a lot, good tires are worth it. if you dont drive much, buy the cheapest tires you can find. they crack around the edges and are unsafe to use. in the old bias days, tires would last 15 to 20 years. nowadays, they crack in less than 5 years. and the tire shop will not patch a tire more than 5 years old [some shops now are passing on 3 year old tires]. I just bought 2 hankook optimas for my 67 C-10 panel. I took off Remington LTs which still had 11/32 depth, but cracked. the hankooks have about 9/32 brand new. but they were about $50. less each. and they will crack just a fast.
