Default New Crate Engine Build

Hello All, I am returning to stock elmin. after 19 year hiatus. (ran a Ls6 Chevelle in B/SA for 25 years) I plan to build a ZZ6 405 hp from scratch. I am way out of date! I am looking for advice on the cam & ring combo please. I realize some hate crates, but it is affordable to me at this point. Thank you.

Call Chris Padget at Bullet for his cam recommendation and speak with Keith at Total Seal. I can't remember his last name.

Didn't IHRA drop Stock and Super Stock a couple years ago? If so, it wouldn't really make sense to build a crate motor if there's nowhere to race it. Am I missing something?

That's what I thought also.

I think that he may be looking to race in the local CanAm Stock/Super Stock series.
Also, CM cars are allowed at the NHRA Open being run at Toronto Motorsports Park and Napierville.

The ZZ6 405 is an alum headed 350" SB and it was never available in a production car. It was on the list of accepted crate motor engines that can be used.

I know it's not my money, but it doesn't make much sense to build a car for an obsolete class. Yes you can run some Nat Opens, etc. but if you build a NHRA stocker you can run (or sell Later) anywhere.

Gentlemen, Thank you for your expert advice! I am running only the CamAm deal & the Cdn. National Open. If we do lose the crate deal, I can change the heads/intake & run stock. I am planning to build a legal flat top short block. Touring is not cost effective at this point. I appreciate the info!
