Red face Attention: Top Sportsman

This is in the 2010 Rulebook !

Monday, January 18, 2010

Attention all Top Sportsman competitors. As a reminder from the Technical Services Department on page 4.14 of the 2010 NHRA Rulebook, DRIVELINE: 2, DRIVELINE, “Each end of driveshaft must have round 360-degree driveshaft loops within 6 inches of U-joints.” Be sure to check that BOTH ends of the driveshaft have a 360-degree loop within 6-inches of the front and rear U-joints. If you have any questions regarding this rule please contact the Tech Department at 626-250-2485 or TechDL@nhra.com.

Keyword here is BOTH ends of the driveshaft.

Looks like Bickel has a nice set-up for the 9 inch Ford pinion support rear ends.

It is only $ 395.00 --

Funny thing is , this is for T/S Only , not comp, SS or any other sportsman class.

I believe most of the rules are set up pertaining to the potential performance of the cars. I'm sure there are some comp cars that have the same requirement. I've always liked to have 2 loops on my stuff no matter how fast or slow it was... it's cheap insurance. Joe

Carl,
Am I looking at it correctly that it has to be unbolted from the pinion support in order to pull the driveshaft out of the trans?

Drake, Im gonna order one, I will ask and post the info as soon as I find out. It would be nice if it has enough room to tilt the shaft enough to slide it out. The Bickel setup looks like it definitley has to be unbloted, its a 2 piece andshaped like a can. I like the simple one piece design, and you cant beat the price.

Carl, that is the simple way of curing the issue! It moves from rear to rear if you have multiple pumpkins.... It is just more BS that we have to add to a car! I am in the process of getting this car that just came out of P/S and it needs to be updated! More money equals more BS!!!!!!!!
