Modified was the best eliminator NHRA has ever had. The best part was watching the class run offs. It was fast heads up racing, much better than the eliminator runs.

Todd,
Thanks for posting the link to my photo album. Here's a link to some Modified pictures that I took from the mid 70s through 81. I have a few more that I have to rescan.

Bob,

I think sometime back you posted these but I never get tired of looking at them. Makes you kinda wonder what became of all these cars?

Yeah, loved those old cars. As far as what happened to many of them, alot of them probably ended up as bracket cars. Sadly, a few probably got cut up and scrapped. Many are likely still setting in somebody's old garage, warehouse, various shops. Even sadder, many of the owners are old now, long ago lost interest in the cars, they'll end up being inherited by grandkids or great grandkids that have no idea as to the history of the car they get.

I've often wondered if you could take x-ray pictures of almost any town/city of size, what treasures would you find. I was stationed at Ft.Hood in 1980-81, I was in downtown Killeen one Saturday, came across a locked car lot. Setting in the back row was one of the old mid 60's altered wheelbase Dodge's. Wonder whatever became of that car?
