Accusump - pros & cons

I'm thinking of installing an accusump on my LS motor. When I do things
like this, I always find out why I shouldn't have done it, after I've done
it. Would like some real world opinions from people with experience
in dealing with accusump type of installations.

Pros

Keeps oil pressure from dropping when stopping after burnouts & braking at the end of the run.

Allows to run a Lower oil level in pan if desired.
Allows prelubing the engine prior to start.
Can be operated mechanically
Can be operated electrically, Both on-off and/or Engine oil pressure reading.

Cons

Additional weight of canister, oil & plumbing.
Space to mount canister and route plumbing

everything Steve said-I saved a Buick 455 block when they started getting scarce and had kinda wide main clearances (for a street car) with an Accusump-prelubed on startup when the key went to on, street/stripped that thing for years like that

We run accumulators on both of our cars, and have the electric solenoid connected to the ignition switch on them both as well. The only con is the small amount of additional weight, but I think the pros greatly out-weigh that. With this setup, we always turn on the ignition switch and let the motors prime until the oil pressure falls back to 5-10psi before we fire the cars up each morning. And of course the motor gets a full prime everytime you go to start it up so it's just a great insurance for every bearing and lubed surface. Highly recommend these to anyone, it's a great investment!

I like having an accumulator and recommend using the Canton EPS smart valve regardless of who's accumulator you choose

How much additional oil do you need to run? 2 qts?

Moroso has them available in 1.5 Quart and 3 Quart.
