Default burnout and metric 200

Is doing your burnout in second gear only with a metric 200 bad for the trans? Should you always shift to high gear or do high gear only? Thanks

Dave

I don't think it hurts to do it in 2nd. However, I always start off in low and shift through to high gear, so that I don't spin the engine up to get tire speed.

Alan is giving you good advice ; Jack Sepanek who builds/repairs a ton of 200's recommends the same .

If you have enough power, a high gear only burnout is the best and safest for a 200. The low gear burnout can beat up the low gear sprag.

Hi Dave the guys at A-1 said to start in 2ND and shift into 3rd, I have an auto 1-2 shift in mine. I however start in 2nd and just leave it ,get to desired rpm and when it drops slightly roll out under same throttle position till the tires grab. voila! no problems and have been doing the same basic thing for 20 years with no issue.
