Re: Contact info for Smith Machine (Lifters)
I think once a year I'm going to send them back to have them scoped for cracks as a preventive item.

Re: Contact info for Smith Machine (Lifters)
In lieu of Smith Lifters, I would recommend PPPC, Trend or Ferrea tool steel lifters.

Re: Contact info for Smith Machine (Lifters)
I just lost cam with Trend TS lifters, never made a pass in competition, just break in time in my shop. Camshaft design wise was the same as earlier builds 200lbs seat pressure 380lbs open. Caught it before it really went south, can save camshaft with touch up, lifters have a weird looking pattern on them. Rehone with fresh rings and try again.
Going PPPC and camshaft coating per customer request. I have never had any issues with Schubeck lifters or Smith Bros but maybe I just got lucky, I do believe camshaft lobe design and correct lash and pressure has a lot to do with failure rate. RJ |

Re: Contact info for Smith Machine (Lifters)
I could not get PPPC for my latest build and had to go with Trend but it is a very good idea to have your camshafts polished and still do a low spring pressure break in.
