Wow, this was just a general question, Just wanting to know if any one has had good luck doing this in a stocker type application. It did not have to be a to the rule book stocker or super stocker, but was interested if it has an advantage on this type of an application.

OK, NOW WE'VE GOT THAT CLARIFIED, HOW ABOUT LOOKING AT "OFF SET WRIST PINS" TO GAIN A ADVANTAGE, LIKE THE STOCKERS DID IN THE '60'S?....ADGER SURELY YOU REMBER THIS TRICK......HAVE A GOOD DAY.

Name something that is "incorrect" in that article.

Here we go again this whole on this whole engine deal; it is all one big compromise. In a stocker type application i think it would be well worth shortening the rod length even if it is the legal amount. Here we go, in the cylinder head dept, we are fairly limited with this intake runner and intake manifold combo. So the shorter we make this rod to a point we might be able to improve on this intake pulse. Like an older comp eliminator record holder once said, " First You have to get it in" (air and fuel).

Name something that is "incorrect" in that article.

To start, the analysis does not take in to account addtional dynamics that influence the loading of the crankshaft and cylinder wall. I have built tall deck and short deck engines of the same make of engine and have made the same power. The Delta did not vary more of 1% of power. Go and read the Reher & Morrison article and you will get their put on rod length. Many racers are using short rods because they are using very short decks, such as the ProStock and Comp racers have done with the Aurora block. They can pack a lighter rotating assembly and also get a better angularity bettwen the port and intake. I can write a whole dissertaion on the topic but I do not have the time to do so; and like Adger and others have said, this is Stock/Super Stock class racing.

Nobody in the Comp arena shares their rotating assembly combinations and you would be surprised many of them using a longer rod because they can pack a lighter piston and cannot afford the cost of the Aurora race block. Like Warren Johnson has said in the past: If the theory does not match the results, create a new theory"

You tried to make a moutain out of a molehill. Didn't work. Are you telling us Mr Stahl doesn't know what he's talking about? Jesus. His article enlightens people to the rod length fallicies. One might say he also didn't have the time to write a 10,000 word dissertation (sp) to please mechanical undergrads.

Picking on me isn't your strong point dude.
