Re: Need info for 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMXs
A friend of mine has one for sale here in Arizona. It is the #3 car on the list. It is restored to "race day" with the 1970 body parts as supplied by AMC for the 1969 Hurst SS/AMX's to convert to the 1970 model year. Didn't quite work out the way AMC wanted it to as NHRA said "no way" after the second race of the season!
He's asking somewhere around $125,000. Never been tubbed or caged & red / white / blue.

Re: Need info for 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMXs
Hello, new member here at ClassRacer...
Wanted to "wake-up" this old thread... Doing more 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMX research. Any new information available anyone wants to post? One point of interested in any further information from an AMX that was in the Jackson MS area as mentioned by Ron Middleton in this quote from earlier in this thread. Quote:

Re: Need info for 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMXs
George Warren in nearby Phenix City, Ala took delivery of # 6 and raced it a few years then it was parked for years finally going to someone in Texas. In the last year or two I heard from a Gentleman in Minnesota if I remember correctly who bought # 6 and was starting a restoration. I had a couple of pictures when the car was nearly new and sent them to him. I drove the car a few times for George and it was a great ride. We took it to Suffolk in early 1970 and tech promptly told us not to bring it back with the '70 model parts on it, he spotted the hood before we ever got to tech.
Restoration is going to be tough as George converted the car to SS/AM with a Chevrolet motor before he quit racing it and of course it was tubbed at that time. He sold all the original parts including the dash plaque to Les Kinney of Albany Georgia who used them on a non Hurst car which he ran in SS/D. |

Re: Need info for 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMXs
The George warren car should be just about restored by this point. the new owner is a car collector with a lot of other vehicles, and took this one down to nothing and redid the entire car. There are pictures of it on my website here:
http://www.superstockamx.com/page16.php Also pictures of the Les Kinney car, which is among the missing if anyone has any info on it. |

Re: Need info for 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMXs
Glad to see this thread back up after ten years. Since that time my website has expanded (www.superstockamx.com) and I have been able to post just about every piece of documentation available,
The Beachey Brothers car is found and now in PA. Skeeter Hernandez' car is confirmed destroyed (pictures on the site-car 46) Flemington Rambler car is still be raced in Norway Stowe Engineering, Hicksville, NY car is probably a known car, #51 Uncle Sam El Paso, TX-was purchase din Albuquerque by a guy who raced a Monster truck called "The Big Mosse". Still looking for info. Chuck's Luck, Wayne Nissen, Shrevesport, LA was probably crashed and destroyed. The Big Menace, Dick Allen Motors, Westchester, CA junked when the dealership closed and the bank cleared it out. Coon Brothers-car still owned by the original owner. Plans changed right after he bought it and he went into business for himself and never raced it. Pappys Joy or Greene Motors form NJ.-I've heard from any number of people the car still exists, but all these years later nothing has turned up. Transcona out of Canada-destroyed in a fire McDonald Rambler, Montreal, Can. Stolen when less than 6 months old, never to be seen again. VIN unknown-I was going to ask the Montreal police to do a search for the VIN but realized it might be a known car and I didn't want to open that can of worms. King Nash, raced by Royce van Buskirk and Clyde Copley out of Texas/Okla area. No sign of it And the strangest of all, Harry and Carl AMC car from Cincinatti, OH. People have told me they saw it int he dealership, but it vanished. Haven't even found someone who may remember it at a track. Still trying to find info on the car in this thread called "Madness". It is still missing, but wondering if it was an original car with a new owner/name. Love to hear if anyone has anythingnew on any of these cars. |

Re: Need info for 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMXs
A brand new article dated June 17, 2019 has came out on the Hot Rod Magazine Network web site about the Shreveport LA Chuck Milner Wayne Nissen 1969 Hurts Super Stock AMX with some history and some pictures of the car I had not seen before. They mention that the car's whereabouts is unknown and it would be a very interesting car to find somewhere after all this time.

Re: Need info for 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMXs
November 2019 - 1 of the previously MISSING 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMX cars appears to have surfaced after being in hiding since 1971, never raced, original Owner, the #27 Car from Felts Motor Company.
Also, a previously unseen, by me anyways, 'lost' AMC Corporate Letter about the cars dated January 31, 1969 has been located and Lo and behold, it does contain a few little tid-bits of previously unknown information and/or explains or inflames some long standing 'rumors' - LOL afaik, I inadvertently 'discovered' the existence of this 'missing' letter when I had too much time about 1 year ago and decided to type up as plain text the know and available May 6, 1969 AMC Corporate Hurst AMX Super Stock Letter, and in the 1st sentence of the 4th paragraph it references the 'previously sent January 31, 1969 Letter' which had not been seen and no one had posted. For those interested, the August 2019 Muscle Car Review magazine contains quite a bit of AMC coverage, including an article with previously not seen picture of another 'lost' Hurst AMX, 'Chuck's Luck' driven by Mr. Wayne Nissen, Shreveport LA from Port Rambler in Shreveport. This has been your November 2019 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMX update... LOL Last edited by PHAT69AMX; 11-15-2019 at 07:04 PM. Reason: to add picture - emphasis added |
