Wrong. RPO ZL2 Cowl Induction hood application is exactly as I explained it. COPOs and Pace Cars got the hood automatically (regardless of the engine), the hood was an option on all SS cars (again regardless of the engine) and Z/28s (which only came with the 302). |

Re: Stock hood configuration clarification
No, still wrong. The fact that only certain engines came in SS models doesn't change the hood situation. I didn't say that every possible '69 Chevrolet engine combination could be optioned with a ZL2 hood, because you couldn't get every possible engine combination in an SS or a Z/28. For example, if you purchased a Camaro with the 255 HP 350 in a Camaro coupe or convertible, a ZL2 hood would not have been available. This would be because the SS and Z/28 packages were not available with the 255 HP engine. COPOs (L72 427/425 and ZL-1) were built with ZL2 as standard equipment. All Pace Cars (coupes and convertibles), with any of the engines that were available in them (just Pace Cars), were also factory-equipped with ZL2. And any SS model with any of the engines available in them could be optioned with ZL2. Finally, Z/28s could be optioned with the hood, as well.

Re: Stock hood configuration clarification
Nhranml, in the case of a 69 Camaro, engine usage does dictate which hood can be used. A Camaro must be a SS in order to get a 350/300 or a BB. A Camaro must be a Z-28 in order to get a 302. A base Camaro can't have a 302, 350/300 or a BB so it can't have a ZL-2 hood.
The way I see it, you're both right. Can we get on to Chrysler and FFFFord hoods now? You're not a Mopar guy, are you???

You guys are stating it differently than I was looking at it, but you're absolutely right. Sorry for the confusion. Mopar guy? Absolutely, though I've always stayed in the closet with that fact. Love Max Wedge cars, especially the high compression 426s with aluminum front ends. Have no idea whatsoever what hood was factory available on which car though, because it seems like everything you see from back then has a Max Wedge-style hood on it (even wagons). |

Re: Stock hood configuration clarification
