Default 25th Annual Uncle Buck .90 Recap

The Mid Atlantic .90 Association visited Cecil County Dragway for the 25th Annual “Uncle Buck” Pig Roast the week before the LODRS. In the end the team of Bill Hardifer & Bill Phillips cleaned house in their W&T Pipeline Consultants entries along with Al Owens, Amanda Boicesco & Lance Krieger.

Phillips, the businessman out of Monroe Twp., NJ had been very close before with multiple runner-ups on the MASSA & Division 1 level but, hadn’t been able to light the lamp in the finals, that was until Race # 6. His first win in Super Street wouldn’t come easy though as he needed to take down multiple time champion Keith Mayers. At the hit, Phillips took a (.013 to .056) advantage and turned that into a 10.922 to 10.900 hole shot victory. Joining Phillips in the winner circle on Saturday in Super Gas was New York’s Al Owens and his 67 Camaro who took down Virginia’s Kevin Maupin’s Beretta 9.888 to a losing 9.865 and in Super Comp 2017 Champion Boicesco also won on a hole shot when finalist Ash Senft was tardy at the hit as she took an easy 8.941 to 8.902 victory.

On Sunday, Phillips teammate Bill Hardifer took the victory in Super Comp by defeating Kevin Scholl in a battle of S&W Dragsters. Hardifer took a small advantage (.023 to .033) at the tree and parlayed that into an 8.909 to 8.917 victory and his first of the year. Less than 24 hours after winning his first race, 56 year old Phillips took home his second trophy by defeating Dom Burgese in the final of Race # 7. Phillips outran Burgese 10.915 to 10.930 after an almost even start at the green. Rounding out the weekend was Lance Krieger made a rare appearance in the ex-Gary Laird Roadster count as he laid down a 28 thousandth package on Derek Clark’s Oldsmobile Roadster to take the victory 9.907 to 9.931 in Super Gas.

The final 2 events of the season will wrap up at Cecil County on September 22nd & 23rd and all three championship battles are wide open for anyone’s taking!!
