Default Conditions at Maple Grove?

Just wondering, how are the conditions at the Grove. With all the rain, is the field a mess? and will the water table drop enough to prevent any seepage.

If it's anything like how NHRA prepped E-Town, you better plan on tire spin and being loose at top end. Don't matter how well Maple Grove's track has been all year (Pinks All Out was actually the BEST traction I've been on all year), NHRA comes in and tends the mess a track up for the rest of the year. Note Maple Grove end of 2006.

It's going to be a wild ride for the BIG HP cars! A lot of rain has fallen as of late! Maybe Friday we will get down the track with little problems! Also forget about running after the sun goes down.

I'v ran bracket races with dew dripping off the quaters @ night, the trick is to keep the cars running. ( no down time @ all )

I'm pretty sure that the track will be good.. I can't remember going down that track and finding the race surface to be anything but.. NOW, the shut down area is a different story.. between moisture and leaves, could be another fun time..

The BIG problem is going to be Sportsman parking.. if the water table is high, which it probably is from all the rain, be prepared to be stuck in the mud somewhere on the grounds..

From the D1 site:

Thursday’s Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals Sportsman rounds canceled

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10/5/2010

Due to persistent showers that started Monday and lasted through Tuesday, there will be no Sportsman parking on Wednesday, Oct. 6, for the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway due to wet grounds. Parking for categories from Top Alcohol Dragster through Super Street will begin at 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

As a result, Thursday’s Sportsman racing action has been canceled. Time trials/qualifying will begin Friday with Super Street, Super Gas, Super Comp, Stock, and Super Stock receiving one run prior to eliminations; Comp, Top Alcohol Funny Car, and Top Alcohol Dragster will receive two qualifying sessions. The Professional qualifying schedule remains unchanged.

From what i understand everything is pushed back one day. We were supposed to park and get tech today (Wednesday) but instead it will be tomorrow ( no cars will be run tomorrow) only parking and tech. As far as Friday is concerned we will get one time shot in the mourning and 1st rnd some time after that. Hope that helps. Just saw this on drag race central.
