Chevelle wheel help
My wife and I have a '71 Chevelle that we purchased with 6" front wheels and 8" back. I'd like to update the wheels (they're a little dated) and go with 10" rear and 3.5" or 4" fronts. If I'm not mistaken the 10" rears should have a 5.5" BS. Is that correct? It's a stock-length GM 12-bolt and we run 275/60/15 DOT drag radials. IIRC that's a 28" tire with an almost 11" width (overall tire ... not the actual tread).
My main question (other than if I have the rear offset correct) is what is the offset for the front? Having messed with this skinny wheels years ago I can't remember if I need the 2.25" or 1.75" BS. I remember one moves in more towards the fender and one keeps in centered more in the wheel well. I can't remember which is which or which one that I want. I like the look of the wheel "out" more. The 6" fronts we have now are kind of "tucked" more in the wheel well away from the outside which isn't my favorite look. Thanks in advance for any help. I'm looking at ordering Weld Alumastar 2.0 BTW. Scott |
