No secret I am kinda partial to these dinosaurs:

and the worst condition enclosed truck I ever saw-still couldn't keep myself from making a ridiculous low ball offer on it, but he wouldn't take 2500.00

Lew, did that old truck have those goofy really skinny 18" wheels and tires?Being an original 6 cyl. truck, I would imagine it was sporting some pretty steep rear end gearing too!

Rory,

If I remember right it had something like 19.5 one-piece rims and used the same tires the U-haul vans used. It had a 6-something (mountain gear) one speed rear axle, which was fun with the big-block, but ran out of rpm's rather quickly! 56 MPH all-out !

Here's a side shot of Armstrong's hauler. Truck, living quarters and race car, all in one unit. George Cottel had one that was very similar, however, I don't think George finished the living quarters area. George drove his like it was a hot rod. He used to leave Atco and you could hear him snatching gears all the way down Jackson Road. Sounded like an 18 wheeler. Hauling butt!

There's a lot of neat stuff out there, but one that's somewhat different approach is Bob and Craig Marshall's crewcab Navistar pulling a 5th wheel trailer with two cars bumper to nose. I think it has a lounge in front too.

One of the more interesting rigs I have ever seen was. Alan Armstrongs rig He had a grey hound bus he had converted to a hauler with sleeping quarters at the front. The interesting part was the side of the bus opened up, they swung an engine crane looking thing out the side and hooked on to an Eyelet that was screwed into the front of the roll cage. Lifted the car up and swung in into the bus.. He at the national even t sanair, Cruz pedregon stoped his crew on the way back from a run so he could watch them do it.

Hell now they have Motorhomes that you could put a race car under the chassis..
