Dave Boertman,,,,,,

1971 Dodge Charger {383/300 HP}.........J/SA

Dave was 'one smart guy'.

When Mopar lowered the 1971 - 383 Horsepower rating to {300 HP} from {335 HP in 1970}, Dave jumped all over the 1971 Dodge B-Body.

It fit perfect into the 1971 J/SA Class {11.50 - 11.99 Wt/Hp}

Nice photo, Paul. Yep, finding the right car to fit at the bottom of a given class' weight break was what it was about back then. No such thing as adjusting or subtracting up to 250 lbs. to make a class.

1971,

How many racers knew you could get a basic Charger with a 383/300 HP engine,,,,,,
and with an 'optional special order' (Code # N96) Ramcharger Hood with "Air Grabber" Hood Scoop and 'special air cleaner'.

The NHRA didn't re-factor the 71' Charger 383/300 HP with the 'Air Grabber'.

Those cars weren't that heavy either. I think they came in around...#3475 lbs.

Wink Re: Rod Shop

My only Rod Shop photos I could find were the 2 pit shots taken at Ontario Motor Speedway in '74 at the NHRA Supernationals, (the Dart photo has been posted before), and the 2 track shots taken at Seattle in '75 at the inaugural NHRA Fallnationals.
I'm not sure who the Challenger belonged to, but if I recall correctly, Dave Boertman came in and drove the car for that event.
