Some of the Stock Eliminator cars could be considered as a good choice. Lots of competition ahead of you, if that's what your looking for. Do lots of research, go to a National event and watch. Come on in, the waters fine.

I have a 1988 Mustang GT but it has an aftermarket 9 inch rear not the 8.8 that came with them, it's a registered and insured car. it already has a 6 point cage and a 347 with a Holley 750 and a c4 trans. I don't know if it would fit into any classes though. It's got coil over suspension in the front and a tubular K member too.

From your description, Super Street sounds like the class you should look at. You need 10.50 power in good air and the ability to cut .000 lights on a .500 pro tree. Of course there is more to this. Wish you well.

you can keep the 9" but you would have to lose the front suspension and engine. the 5.0 combo is very good and easy to run under the index.

The only class you would come close to in Comp Eliminator is Super Modified class. However, you are talking about a back-halfed car with rear electric shocks, SFI rated cage, high dollar transmission and engine. To make your car competitive in the class, be ready to outlay at least $80K to start.

I have always admired and respected the comp racers. Smartest guys out there. Who else could make a dodge 4 banger go sixes in little bantam roadsters. Small and light with as much power as you can make. I am currently cyphering on a 181 cube Nissan motor. The VH35. Some folks have made lots of HP with them. What would minimum weight be with 181 cubes ? Thinking smart saves money.
