Is that a urethane bushing that nut is being tightened down against? Doesn't seem like a good idea.

How about the mating angle. You should check it with all the weight on it, ride height.

Bill, I took the flat and lock washers off to see if I could get the nut to a point of not hitting the rim.

I don't know, I'll probably lie about the end result anyway so it won't matter. Unfortunately without initial numbers I can't see if we made average gains.
It is align honed and the mains all look good now, so at least I feel like we can move forward until the next issue pops up.

Back out of the tank for the second time, rings are on the pistons, time to start assembly.
