Default Changing settings in MSD Programmable 7

Have an MSD 7530T Programmable 7 box and wanted to reset the launch RPM. Can't find the 7550 hand held programmer so I down loaded the program to my laptop only find out the laptop doesn't have a 9 pin connection. I see there is a USB-9 pin adaptor and was wondering if anyone has tried this with any luck.

Can't really speak to MSD as an application but I needed a 9 pin to USB adapter to hook my Innovate Motorsports O2 controller to my laptop. I got one from a local computer outlet - Best Buy or Office Max - and it worked fine.

Thanks. I had seen they were available but just wanted to see if anyone had used one in this application. As soon as I buy one the hand held will show up.

General question. Why do high tech auto electronics use computer interfaces that are totally outdated? My HP is 6 years old and I still needed an adapter. Even a Racepak Sportsman has a Serial (9 pin) interface. They give you an adapter but if you loose it you can't just go to the junk drawer and grab a spare USB cable. Just a personal beef...

Just like everything else "racing" related. Always have a spare.

If you are at No Problem this weekend I have an adapter you can try or borrow a 7550 to change it

James, not at Belle Rose but will be at Gainesville next weekend. Terry says he has rounded up a cable but thanks. This is old dogs-new tricks for us.
