I retract my opinion on this.

Fitting one of those W I I I DE DOHC V8s in between a Mavericks shock towers might be a tad interesting.

You beat me to that one.

My first thought was a pushrod 352 CJ in a '78 Fairmont wagon.
I see the wagons are legal in GT, but not 4 door cars.

Why no 4 doors? The G&R 4 door Tijuana Taxi was much better looking than any Pinto!!

GT/MA indexes are 11.75...1/4 and 7.53...1/8th.

I spotted another potential GT engine combo for my '87 Turbo Coupe.

The rule was changed some time ago.
As a matter of fact, I believe that in addition to the Chevy big block there are a few with the Pontiac big block engine in their FWD GT cars.

I think in the long run it would be cheaper to use a newer mustang body if you got one that did not need paint or body work. I'm working on a mustang stocker now and I have less in the basic body than I would have in restoring a 1970-80 body. My original plan was to build a GT new mustang with a FE big block. like a real 428CJ in a newer CJ. The new mustang body would cost less than a 69 or 70 mustang.
