Cool How much longer do we have?

I got a email from the div 6 rep the other evening asking for input on whether aftermarket crankshafts and seats should be allowed in stock and I've been wondering since how long it will be before NHRA does away with stock and super stock and just calls us stock appearing. The payouts are nil and running for class is not what it used to be, They sure don't seem to want to police us anymore so why have the rules anyways?
I think we are seeing the end of what it used to be.

Yeah, it would be nice to have a more restrictive type stock eliminator class like it was before 1984.
That's why I am so attracted to the IHRA Pure Stock class....I can actually build a car with stock parts.

Neither of those have any sort of performance advantage. The seats are a safety issue and last 396/427 cranks I bought cost more than a new eagle and needed $800 worth of work

Someone will.

And aftermarket forgings are already legal in Super Stock.

Wonder how many people who wanted roller rockers in Stock Eliminator will now complain about aftermarket crankshafts?

Here we go again with NHRA getting paid and not wanting to do their job. Membership and entry fees are just a couple of the many ways that NHRA gets their funding for employing people to do the checking and certifying of the "classes" that we race in. All NHRA wants is nothing more then a pretty car bracket race without any policing involved. This has been the trend since the valve spring rule change, which I beleive was the down fall of Stock to where we are now, bastardized modified product cars calling themselfs Stock. Just my point of view, but when I started running Stock in 1974, I had a bumper bolt missing because of my tow bar, I couldn't race until I got the proper bolt that belonged to the car before they allowed me to pass tech. That was pre registration tech.
Tear down was another whole world, you had better have everything correct with the OEM parts or just take it home.

We probably have as long as we want to race. I do not have a problem with after market seat and replacement seats. Stock and Super Stock is mostly a bracket race , a rather expensive one at that.

Long over due on both , who knows maybe the crank and seat manufacture will pay contingency . Win win for everybody. I voted yes
