Re: Trip back to the 70's street scene
Back in the mid-60's, cruising the main drag, scooping the loop was the thing on Friday and Saturday nights. jacked up rears was the in thing. Those of us who couldn't afford air shocks put the car on a lift, let the rear hang free, and put a length of 2x4 between the axle housing and rear frame rail - instant rake and a solid rear suspension. We could get a 289-powered 64 Galaxie to pull the front wheels with a bit of bouncing,
I had a friend with a '64 chevelle, 292 and 4-speed, with the above mod. The car did have a wicked idle. On cruise night we'd put a guy in the trunk. We'd pull up next to some hot shoe and the "trunk guy' would start shaking the car. Between the idle and the shake, the guy in the car next to s was like "wtf?" |

Jacked up cars in the 70"s. Laugh if you want, this was my high school car. Air shocks, Crager S/S and duals with cherry bombs. Cruised and had a lot of good times. Fast didn't come until I got a real paying job.

And the brunette holding the headers? They're real and they're spectacular!
Yes, back in the days of not questioning if they're real or fake...
