Drew just got back from Billy T house and he bought 1 and is really pleased with block, he is building a 415 ci and block looks strong.

The dart website says its only good for 600 hp, and i talked to a dart tech that said they are conservative and he would trust it to 700 hp. Now, i have seen a NOS equipped run almost 1000 hp on a SHP and have no problem and you could say the same about some stock gm blocks. Shop around for the little M's and you can get awesome prices. I was able to acquire a dart little M steel billet cap block for about 600$ more than the shp. Also the SHP can't be bored as big as the little M.

Thanks for the input guys.
I think I am going with the SHP.
Dart tells me it is good for at least 700 HP and has way more meat and stronger than the GM blocks. (even the older high nickel blocks)
I was leaning toward the Little M however the weight swayed me away as it is 40 -50 lbs heavier than my GM block which will mess up my chassis tune up. The SHP is only about 15 lbs more than my block.
50 lbs will put the snubbers on the frame. I doubt I will ever push more than 700 HP at it.
BTW My compliments to Dart.
The guy I spoke with spent a good hour on the phone with me and intellegently answered every important question I had.
Great job Dart!
Any other feed back, bring it on.
Thanks

Ship weight on my little m was like 205 i believe. Summit says SHP is 175 lbs. But i need all the weight i can get up front to keep the nose down!

Longer IC will fix that problem.

yeah but i found its not as consistent..ive got to find a happy medium. Didn't have time to play this year much. Am planning on renting a track with some others and do nothing but suspension changes all day.

i dont have any personal experience with them but a roundy roundy friend of mine was looking into them and had a couple machinists say they are brittle. said the block breaks up into pieces during a problem like a thrown rod or whatever. and yes i know they all do but apparantly the machinist felt it was worse than any he had seen in a similar situation.

Just bought one. Looks to be alot better than the money I threw away on a 400 block. Good looking casting, blind bolt holes, thick deck and cyl. walls.
