Re: That 318-2 dime rocket
There is something different about the 68-69 273 compared to the earlier ones but I don't know just what that something is. Maybe later on I'll try and figure it out. They probably shouldn't be at 190 HP.

Re: That 318-2 dime rocket
Later 273s have a different hydraulic cam. You have to have a couple of screws loose to build one if you are looking for a dime rocket. There are 302 FFFords that could run well with a ball honeand new rings on junk yard engine and still in the books that have not been tried yet.

Re: That 318-2 dime rocket
A forum for asking questions... I did not know that Billy needs to approve ones intent. So you can't ask a question? Can't ask for advice? Do I need to prove something to Billy? Billy , you have a lot of knowledge and contacts. That's not under debate. Remember this forum exists for people seeking information from sportsman racers who are some of the best people and racers that I ever met. Billy- you've lost my respect as a person and a racer. There is no reason for you to respond. You as a racer and person are dead to me.

Re: That 318-2 dime rocket
H.O.D. ,One thing I can say about Billy, after about 40 years, is he can speak for himself, so I'll let that last one pass.
Couple tips.. 1, There are about 2 or 3 of those combos out there. I don't think any of them frequent this forum, so I suggest you do a little research , and track them down. I'm sure they'll be glad to talk to you. 2, When going back and forth between a 2 bbl and a 4 bbl. ,you're going to want to change a lot more than just the carb and intake.

Re: That 318-2 dime rocket
The 318 Four Barrel is very good @230HP
My boy held the record a couple different years with it and won his class @ Indy on a modest budget (ran 1.+ under when he needed) But only legal in 78 up 318. Two barrel was under index but never very great for us .

and I was asking YOU a question. and I don't like wasting my time and my "contacts" time doing research for a nameless person who has no intentions of using the info that we gathered. Over a number of years, you have supposedly been "building" at least a half-a-dozen combos that never reach the track. If you want to "talk" combos then just call me on the phone and I'll talk your ear off but let me know your intent ahead of time. and somehow, I'll get by.......
