I agree MJ. Would be very surprised if any of the surronding cities of L.A. did not follow there lead. I wonder if NHRA is considering racing in front of empty stands like ML baseball considering games in front of empty stands?

The governor of Michigan telling the citizens of Michigan what they can and can't buy in a store .. Talk about power drunk and probably taking orders from bureaucrats higher up. !! People on both sides of the aisle starting to protest and push back.

One of the biggest problems with this virus is there are still too many unknowns. I live in Ontario Canada and we shut everything down weeks ago. We are now just getting reports that we may see a flattening of the curve on this thing. Hopefully in hind sight we did the right thing . Who really knows.

Re: L.A. mayor considers banning outdoor sports.....
I live in a small town on Lake Mead = a major recreation area.
We rely on users of the National Park for a good portion of our town's economy. The Park is closed for the last month and many of our business that have struggled to make the tourist season to survive are going out of business. The is a shopping center that I often go to lunch......Over 1/2 the shops are already closed and EMPTY. The state closed our trailer business for a month and made us lock out gates. We will survive because we own our property free and clear. Most others may not get thru this period! I do not mind wearing a mask and requiring customer to do so AND staying 6 feet apart. We could do sales remotely and deliver the trailers to customers curb. I am not minimizing the Virus BUT poverty and tough financial times will KILL a lot more people than it ever will in my opinion. I would happily take my chances with the Virus = rather than see my Grandchildren (perhaps for a long time) go without what they need to thrive. The repercussions of this Recession (Possible Depreciation) will last for a very long time and be more substantial than you may realize.

THAT, IMHO, is not an acceptable number. And I believe that you are correct John in believing that a recession and the poverty and crime that it will inevitably bring will kill more than the virus.

Re: L.A. mayor considers banning outdoor sports.....
The first tentative divisional races are one month away. What is happening in Atlanta, Georgia and Almo Dragway in Texas as far as shut downs? Motels, restaurants and now borders?
A month from now half the restaurants could be out of business. The governor of California is considering cancelling all sporting events. Waiting to open the country's doors til May 1st seems crazy too me. So many folks need help now and not because they have the virus. Looking for some light sooner than May, Paul Haszlauer |
