Default Distance to vendors

last weekend I went for a ride with a buddy to our transmission guys shop, roughly 3.5hrs. While there some guys were 10.5hrs one way out of Canada.

This weekend we headed out on a 32hr round trip to Steve Schmidt’s shop to drop off a motor.

Anyone else have long drives to there transmission, engine or chassis shop?

Do you prefer to drive your stuff out or ship?

Between the expense of shipping these days and the horror stories you hear about shipping fiascoes I certainly drive parts when I can.

I went to ProTrans new location in Waco Tx to pickup my trans and a friends trans last weekend, met Dave and his nice family while we were in town, even toured the DrPepper facility in Down town Waco. Glad to have another quality performance shop within driving distance (3hrs) of Houston, not to mention 2 more good drivers in D4.

I will drive as far as it takes to connect with the right sources. Face to face is better than an impersonal introduction IMO. After all, many of us travel ridiculous distances to compete in this glorious hobby; having the best possible relationships in support of our foolishness makes it “all good”.

No Dwight we didn't make it over there, but we did go to In-N-Out burger ( we don't have those in Houston) while we were waiting for the DrPepper museum to open at noon.
