Gloves and trans shields
I have been told that in 2011 gloves are now required for anyone going 9.99 or quicker and that flexplate shields are now required in SS. I have been thru the 14 page amendments listed at http://www.nhra.com/UserFiles/file/2...Amendments.pdf and I don't see anything listed there.
Am I just missing it? Does anyone know where I can find the specifics to make sure I am ready? Last edited by Racin Mason; 01-05-2011 at 08:19 PM. |

Re: Gloves and trans shields
There was nothing citing any changes in the 2011 rule amendments posted online at nhra.com. Maybe a Tech person can explain.

Re: Gloves and trans shields
Byron and Racin Mason, you need to down load new rule book on line, SS/AH through SS/MA need transmission shield or sfi. case, or 10.99 and quicker. SS/JA and quicker need sfi. flex plate and flex sheild. Tom

Re: Gloves and trans shields
The gloves are something you will just have to deal with.
As far as the trans shield goes, Ive seen some horrible damage done by failed flexplates and transmissions. ....It just makes sense to have them ... Some cars are a pain to put on a shield ,but ask Dean Riberio,or Jack Matyas about the damage to their cars when they had failures!

http://www.nhra.com/blog/racer-updat...ents-released/ That post on the NHRA site is dated October, but the link to the PDF looks like the document was replaced December 6 with a 2nd round of revisions...so I guess unless you saved that version, it's lost to the world.

Re: Gloves and trans shields
I saw that flex plate shield requirement. Where do you find one? I already have SFI trans shield and an SFI flex plate, can't find anything available for a flex plate shield other than mid-plates with shield attached. If I drop a class I could dodge that & Dodge DragPaks in one move. LOL!

Re: Gloves and trans shields
Ed, I've seen on a other forum ,someone said the CSR trans vest will clear a Metric 200.
I cant vouch for that , but I do have a CSR bellhousing shield for a PG from my Willys that I will check to see if it fits a Metric. The CSR is the closest fitting shield made to my knowledge, altho F bodies have no room to spare. I would use the TCI mid plate and just trim it down to the outside diminsions of the case, IF it fits inside the Metric bell.

Re: Gloves and trans shields
Thanks for the help guys. I have a JW Ultrabell on my trans, so it looks like I am covered there.
