Selling race car into Canada?
I may be selling my car to someone in Canada and they want me to delivery race car and my enclosed trailer, anybody ever done this before? Do I need a passport to enter the country? Will I be checked when I come back out? What happens if I don't come back with everything I took in?
Any help would be appreciated, I would need to have the car there in September. Thanks RJ Sledge |

Re: Selling race car into Canada?
you need a passport or the new enhanced drive lic.to get in and out of canada,,,say your going racingon the way over, and you lent trailer and picked it up on way home or call the bridge your going over and ask what is involved to sell and deliver,,,,its harder bull****ting them now days as the old days was easier

RJ, I hope you have another car in the works-I am really going to miss yours, it is one of my favorite! as for the border, if the RACECAR is not registered, you may need the title for proof of ownership these days.

Re: Selling race car into Canada?
Meet at a place on the US side let them take it back across, its easier for them. I have done this before and have friends in Canada. When they go out all they need say is they are picking up their car from a shop in the US. If they leave in the morning and go back in the evening they get less hassles crossing back. The last time I did it on a weekend when they could have gone to a race in the US and are returning from a race, that way there are others crossing with trailers. Good Luck.

Re: Selling race car into Canada?
Do you have a title for the car? If so is the new owner going to transfer it into his name and it legaly import the car into canada? Which province are they in? There is a 72 hour wait to bring a vehicle into canada once you produce the paper work at the border if they are going to import it. The fact that it isn't street legal may change some of the paperwork. If they don't want to import the car and are going to meet you on the U.S side they can transfer the title into their name here they just need a U.S address to send the title to, that way if they ever get stopped at the border at a later date they can prove ownership. Canadians are not allowed to drive U.S registered vehicles in canada but since it won't be street driven they should be o.k.
