Default Battery charger brand?

Looking for a good dependable 12V battery charger. Had enough of the S brand (run away voltage, boiling fluid, won't float,....) At the last Div-1 meet I saw every brand I'd heard of in use but not a consensus on the brand. Moroso was the high end for me all the way to discount store, just looking to recharge, maintain between rounds and overnight trickle.

Using two Optimas in car,
Thanks in advance

Optima batteries must not be subjected to a charge voltage greater then 14.5 volts. I have always used a Battery tender 5 amp charger. Optima now makes there own battery charger.

I have a Sears model 608.718331, 12 volt, 10amp that I bought in July 1981, and except for painting the case and making a new carry strap it does great. When my "yellow top" that is 5+ years old is in our racecar it keeps it happy. Hope this helps, John Kissel

I have 2 red top Optima batteries in my dragster. I use a black and decker charger that will run 40 amps continuous and will keep up with the fan and water pump between rounds. It will gradually go down to 0 charge when fully charged. my dragster is an 2008 and I changed out my old optimas last year just because I figured it was time, but they were still working great. I hope this helps. I tried the S brand and they didn't keep up.

I purchased the expensive Optima charger because they were paying contingency. They stopped paying contingency and the display on my charger stopped working after two weeks.

I have a Davis roadster which uses a Guest Marine on board charger.
I also use 2 Optima red tops. They last 5 plus years for me in the race car and I just change them and move them to the pickup or my big mower for the last few years of their life. The one in the pickup lasted for almost 11 years before needing replacement.

I keep the race car plugged in full time at home and it works as a maintainer.
My Guest has 2 lugs that charge 5 amps each. I have the lugs tied together like the batteries. It is an on board small charger which makes it easy to just take a extension cord and plug it into a bulk head receiver on the car. Clean and simple without dragging around a charger. I have had this system since 2007 and it has worked well for me.

Guest model 2610A hard wire model
Guest model 2611A wire lead model

My 2 Cents

I really like the "Made In USA" and the tech write up, do you have one of these? Anybody with experience owning one of their products?

Looking for the best between rounds charger until we get a Hi-Amp alternator on the car.
