Re: Original hemi dart information
So, at long last Daryl seems to have found the origins of his LO23:
This.... Quite possibly became this.... Sooooooo......where was it from the beginning until it's known resurface? Daryl, how about an update from the time you have knowledge of until now. I know its a rehash but for the late comers and newcomers it might shake a cloud of dust out of a memory somewhere. Last edited by Charlie A; 02-11-2015 at 11:26 PM. |

Great idea Charlie, but, I've been requested to do an article on my car for a book that will be coming out named "Lost Muscle Cars" through Car Tech Books by fellow member here Wes Eisenschenk including some pics from Geoff Stunkard. http://www.cartechbooks.com/ It will include the complete history, as I know it, from day 1 to present. A lot of the info will of course be coming from this thread, & The Manhattan Speed Parts thread where Paul C. literally blew me away in his fact finding mission. Theres still a lot of questions that I need to be answered to fill in some of the blanks, but I'm very confident we've got the right car. Now, we gotta fiqure out why this car just sort of fell off the planet from the late 60's till Lou Vignona's documented ownership in the early 80's. So, I don't want to take anything away from that article. Stay tuned folks, I'll keep you updated on the status on that book On a little different venue, I'm going to throw a plug in here for a new book being released this July by the walking Hemi encyclopedia hisself Geoff Stunkard. It will be titled HEMI: A History of Chrysler's Iconic V-8 in Competition. Geoff asked me to have some input on the 68 Super Stock Hemi Program, so needless to say I was honored to help him out in a small way in this project. Here's a link to the facebook page that Geoff is teasing us with till it hits the news stands: If you don't facebook, it's a public page, & you can still view it. Geoff has spent a lot of time researching for this & will no doubt be the best chronicle of the iconic Hemi to date. https://www.facebook.com/hemiracing?fref=photo Geoff is also now in the planning stages of doing a book on the Dick Landy story, so keep your eyes open for that one. I know it'll be top shelf material !!!!!!!! liteweight |

Who would have guessed it would go this far and become the history lesson it has? Killer about the book deal. If it becomes a movie can I be Charlie Castaldo? We share the same name and he was mentioned a couple hundred times throughout this adventure so I could get some good screen time. That bucket list of mine still has you at a tie for #1 with a trip to Frank Hawley's school. I wonder what the next big adventure is going to be? Going to take something special to top this one . Thanks for letting me be a part of it! |

Cheers!!!!! liteweight Photo by Geoff Stunkard. The smiles say it all. It was a very successful shake down on the new elfhunt . Thankyou for sharing this picture on my facebook page Geoff. You can never turn back the hands of time. A very special moment for me indeed. I am glad you were there to capture the moment!!! That decal on the vent glass is an original, not a reproduction, personally given to me by Dick durring his visit up here a few years ago. I have a couple of those left over autographed by the "Dandy" One. Definitely one of those " REALLY COOL" items for me. Last edited by Liteweight; 02-16-2015 at 11:55 AM. |
