Default tow vehicle

We are going to have to get something new to tow with. All we need is a 1/2 ton, as total weight of we we tow is around 5500lbs. Tahoe, Suburban, Durango,, or Ford Expedition. something that can get of it's own way, is dependable, and doesn't rust before your eyes from liquid salt. Thanks in advance, John Kissel K242

Be careful when looking at the specs and feeling safe about towing. Just because it says it can tow 6000lbs doesn't mean it is a good idea. Most of the time, power to tow isn't the issue, handling and stopping is. Another problem that a friend ran into years ago with a Tahoe. It had power and handled ok, but the pinion bearing couldn't handle the load. Had to change a few out before he upgraded to a heavier duty rig. Suburbans had a bigger rear diff and it wasn't a problem. My brother had a 1500 suburban with a 5.3 and tow package. It towed great

A buddy had a F150 with the ecoboost and it pulled his 24' Haulmark Trailer with a 3600lb chevelle, golf cart, and large toolbox with no issues.
