Unhappy Seriously Guys!

I would love to partake in the NMCA races but.... why oh why do they insist on scheduling their race (at least in Florida) on the same weekend as the D2 Points Race!! ( Baby Gators) This is the same thing they have done for three years now! Both tracks are NHRA (Bradenton & Gainesville) and are about 150 miles apart. For the life of me I can't figure this out. I have even emailed the NMCA powers that be with and asked with no reply. Opinions? Jim

Jim, correct me if I'm wrong, but the only real cross over classes between NMCA and NHRA are the Stock/SS classes.
So Seriously Jim, why should NMCA reschedule a race for that small conflict?

Cool Re: Seriously Guys!

The weather is usually much better in Bradenton. Bradenton's track, for the most part, ( at least on the first day - for sure ) is usually much better than G'ville. Even though the NMCA Stk/SS Cars, and Drivers are high quality, the Car Count in Bradenton is far less than G'ville. The entry fee is cheaper at Bradenton. The payout is higher in Bradenton. So solely based on the fact that it never, ever rains in G'ville, I'd probably go to Gainesville. The cool aid tastes much better.

I think Jim Wahl is trying to figure a way so both can be run so that choice doesn't have to be made.

Cool Re: Seriously Guys!

It's a little bit of a gamble because of the G'ville weather, but if you're serious, qualify at Bradenton on Friday, load up and go to G'ville. Run the NHRA race on Saturday. Come back to Bradenton for Sunday Eliminations. Ten or Fifteen years ago, that's what I'd have done. Today … not so much....On a different note, suppose the race in Bradenton was an IHRA National Event? How would that effect your choices? The fact is … there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for NMCA to change the date of their event.

Things might have changed, but this is how I remember NMCA.
Lots of flat out classes with maybe a dozen or less cars in them. Then there was Nostalgia Super Stock and Nost . Muscle Cars..Both breakout classes with far and away more participation than the aforementioned .
To me , if you could bring in 20-30 more S/SS cars and crew members and fans, that would be a reason to consider using a different date.
Just sayin'.

I would think they would run on different weekends, better chance of getting more cars (more money) to both races or is every weekend taken down there? Tracks Just shooting themselves in the foot IMO.

Common sense says NMCA would not schedule on top of the local NHRA event. NHRA is the premier series. I would also like to run the NMCA race in Bradenton but that is the only race that they have near me. they would probably double their car count if they did it on a different weekend than NHRA

Wink Re: Seriously Guys!

I've run every NHRA Div 3 points meet. I've run every NHRA Div 2 points meet. I ran every IHRA National event on their schedule for ten years straight, and I ran every NMCA race the first year they offered Stk/SS..... What's my point ? ...It's not the sanctioning's bodies job to work their schedules around us. You have the right to chose where you're gonna race, or not race at all. As a sportsman / hobby racer, I pick the "best deal" for my race weekends. If there was a conflicting race, I looked for an out of division race to fill up my quota. Granted, I'm not chasing the NHRA Div Points Championship, or the NHRA National Championship. If you are, then you already know where you're gonna race, If you're not, then choose the races that fit your needs, budget and schedule. ( News flash : Nether NHRA or NMCA needs Stk/SS to survive ). NHRA Div 2 will continue to schedule their Baby Gators on rainy 30 degree weekends in early March, and NMCA will continue to schedule their season opener in sunny warmer Bradenton, with full qualified fields in every category, including 20 - 30 Factory Shoot Out Stockers, in front of bleachers full of spectators, (just like the Gainesville points meet), even the NMCA Stk/SS car count doubled from the first to second year. I agree, One of them should change their race date. But, it's probably not NMCA. And I'm guessing NHRA isn't changing their race date. Why would they? So, take your pick.

I look at it a little differently, and feel that we are lucky to have different options/places to race, obviously weather/rain is always an issue so there is always a plan B if it's raining at plan A...
