Re: headers for 396 nova
Which combination? Makes a real difference between 350HP and 375HP.
The headers of choice would be Stahl, by ACP, talk to Greg at 717-232-2800.

Re: headers for 396 nova
Depending on the details that only your engine builder has, and the power you make, I'm going to say 1-7/8" to 2" step headers, around 34" long (17" long each step) and a 3.5" collector about 17" long. Again, that's an educated guess, it is probably a bit on the large and short side. But without knowing a lot more, it's hard to say. You could go with 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" and maybe longer, due to lower HP and RPM than the 375 combination.
Having had Hooker, Hedman, Lemons, and Stahl, I can tell you that Stahl is the only choice, nothing fits better, nothing works better, and you'll spend the difference in price making a lesser quality header work. If it were a street car, or a bracket car, maybe you'd want to compromise. But not on a class car.

Re: headers for 396 nova
Larry, the number I posted gets you Greg, Jere's fabricator. He's building Stahl headers, ACP bought Jere's jigs, benders, and other equipment, and they hired Greg.

Re: headers for 396 nova
Over the years, with three race cars, the best headers I've had were always Stahl. I now have one of the last sets out their door before cutting back.
Quicker & faster than the two other sets I have, fit better, much better spark plug access, and don't bang the ground on hard landings. Can not think of one thing they don't do better than the other two sets. I would go to them first next time.

Re: headers for 396 nova
Try a 1 7/8 primary tube with a merge collector. The collector should have a 2 3/4 minor diameter and a 3 inch major diameter. This if your convertor stalls to or shift point drops to 5000 rpm. Hope this helps.
