Default Lifter bore scratches

Do these scratches look like something I should be concerned with? Discovered them after getting block home from machine shop. I brought it back to the shop they acted like it was not big deal, honed the bores, said it was fine. Solid Roller Lifters

Not only scratches, but also appears to be a lot of pitting too.
They may create excessive leakage around the lifter.
What type of lifter will you be running?

For no surprises check lifter size with mike and bore size with bore gauge or telescoping gauge. If they used a ball brush hone, all that happened was the surface got scratch and bores got bigger.

We know the condition and the correction, but what is the cause?

www.lifterboretools.com has a kit for most popular V8 engines to sleeve lifer bores with bronze bushings. Not only restores your lifter bore to correct tolerance, but can restrict excessive oil flow. Kits have a reamer, install tool and bronze lifter bore bushings.
