bellypans/cheap aero tricks.
has anyone tested a belly pan to help and keep air out from the engine compartment? Or chin spoilers where there legal, i've heard other things like taping off the cowl vents can help?. in our class we have to run a diaper or a pan and i was curious if the pan could help aerodynamically if it was big enough to stop air from going in the engine compartment.

Re: bellypans/cheap aero tricks.
On my 84 Monte Carlo SS I covered headlights and grille for some 1/8 mile small tire event and picked up .02 and 3/4 of a MPH. A-B-A test. I'm getting ready to cover bottom of engine compartment and from the rear end to bottom of rear bumper. My car plows down track and I think it will help allot.

Re: bellypans/cheap aero tricks.
a 69 amx isn't the most aerodynamic thing and we found removing the hood shows pretty good gains and someone mentioned it could be helping get air out from the engine compartment. we recently built a belly pan that covers/ encloses most of the engine compartment.

Remove mirrors off doors. If your running lexan windows flush mount them.
lower chin spoiler, side skirts, etc... My Nova is about as aero as a barn door. |
