Default Late Model 454s

From time to time I see mid 90s 454 engine in the junkyards, are these worth pulling? I have heard the cylinder walls are thin and I have heard it's only a few that are bad. Are the heads any good as far as oval ports go?

The cylinders are no thinner then any of the older 454 block they all have to be sonic tested for thickness.
