Default Drag Racing Friendships

Tommy Sheehan posted this on Facebook yesterday. It is so true. It's near impossible to fathom the number of people, or friends made, without drag racing. Before, during, and after my driving career.

Now that I am older I find I enjoy hanging out with friends at the track more enjoyable than racing. We're at the age that you never know if some of us will still be around next year, so I cherish it.

I couldn't agree more with you Rick, and Ron, which is why I am hopeful that the field of Stock Eliminator for Pomona, doesn't fill up until after 12/21.

In as much as I look forward to being around my many racing buds, I missed my cars 1st ever 14sec et slip by just .015 there. I hope to get another shot at it during next year's Winternationals, however 40 of the 60 spots have been already taken (thus far), and I can't sign up for it until 12/21. We'll see....

Cool Re: Drag Racing Friendships

You're so right about the friendships. I began racing at the original Irwindale Raceway in 1976 and haven't let up since. The places I've gone, the people I've met, the things I've done, the fun we've had, there's no way to put a price on that. It's fun seeing new people come up through the ranks and help them along,as well. Hope you get into Pomona, I want to see you get a little bit quicker. Looking forward to seeing you and everybody else, either Pomona,Fontana, or anywhere else we wind up this year. Some of my drag racing friendships go back 40+ years.
